The paramedic specialist assist patients with basic care needs and other duties related to the well-being of the patient following established nursing policies and procedures. Prioritizes patient care activities base on needs and unit activity under the direction of the Charge RN and/or Clinical Coordinator. Administer treatment and various procedures (within their scope of practice) to patients as ordered by the physician and directed by the professional nursing staff.
Nationally registered paramedic certification and North Carolina state license at the paramedic level. Associates degree in para-medicine, pre-hopsital medicine or related degree preferred. Two years of 911 EMS experience; 1 year of 911 EMS paramedic experience and one year critical care transport experience strongly preferred. Current ACLS certification required PALS and PHTLS strongly preferred. Spanish as second language preferred.
