Families United Network (FUN), Albany County Federation of Families for Children’s Mental Health, is a family driven organization that supports and mobilizes families raising children with emotional/behavioral problems and the schools and community agencies that serve them by providing training, education and advocacy and fostering systems change.

The program provides information to families including referrals to services, information about service navigation, medications, diagnosis, parent rights, advocacy services (for individual families and systems advocacy) training and educational programs for families and providers, support groups, social activities, a warm line, a bi-monthly newsletter, and some case management.

We are searching for a part time Parent Partner who will be based out of our main offices at 60 Academy Rd, Albany, NY. This position is scheduled for approximately 20+ hours per week, the exact schedule to be worked out between the Parent Partner and the families on the caseload.


Provide emotional support families whose children are being referred to an OMH residential program to provide support and education regarding their roles and responsibilities and answer any questions that they might have.

Encourage families to participate in treatment with their child. Attend treatment and medication review and assist with any barriers that may be present.

Prepare families for child’s home visits.

Provide opportunities for families to network through trainings, support group meetings and other social activities.

Required Skills

Required Experience

Associates degree preferred with 3 years experience providing support to families raising a child with SED

Clean driver’s record with independant reliable transportation

Be a parent, caregiver, or guardian of a child with an emotional disability and have experience advocating for services in at least two service systems

Must possess good organizational and communication skills and have the ability to be a team player
