Job summary :
Reporting to the Merrimack Valley Regional Center Director, this part-time, mid-level coordinator will be responsible for coordinating student support services for the Merrimack Valley Regional Center students. This includes academic support to include coordination of the writing –math-computers lab, testing center, participation in Student Orientation, students’ assessment for pre-enrollment for all programs, and during enrollment. The Coordinator will be responsible for assisting students with disabilities and will work with the Dean of Student Affairs to coordinate accommodations required. The coordinator will also participate in student retention activities. The coordinator will also conduct outreach in the community to increase visibility of the center in the capture area and will work directly with businesses to solicit interest in our community. Hours of work are flexible within a week day schedule of 11am – 7pm and weekend schedule of 9 am -5 pm, as required by the Center Director.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
Oversee Testing Center operations including hours of service, protocols with the testing company. Submit payment of services from students who are taking CLEP to the Bursar’s office.
Coordinate with Enrollment Counselors, Ladders to Language Coordinator, LRN Instructors, Academic Coordinator, Program Coordinators and other staff to administer and evaluate pre-enrollment student assessments in math, writing, and computers.
Assess and address English Language Learners needs through the use of College Board Accuplacer tests.
Administer pre-enrollment testing for Medical Interpreter Program and other employment opportunity certificate programs.
Support faculty by coordinating academic support to students as a means of student retention and academic success.
Coordinate, with Academic Coordinator, a retention plan to follow up with students who have stopped out, are not showing up for class, are receiving incomplete grades, are failing classes, or are otherwise not progressing.
Assist Center Director and staff with new student orientation sessions in Center.
Participate in Information Sessions and Admissions in a Minute event.
Conduct outreach in the community to increase visibility of the college and its’ programs.
Procure incentives with local businesses for Cambridge College students.
Education & experience required:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, or related area. Masters degree preferred. Minimum three years of experience in an educational setting. Knowledge of and experience with TOEFL testing, CLEP, and Accuplacer preferred. Experience working with adult learners in language development and writing needs. Experience working with English Language Learners preferred. Demonstrated excellent oral presentation and written communication skills, computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite, experience with coordinating programs or events. A team player with excellent customer service skills, and skills managing multiple tasks. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required. Bilingual skills are preferred.
Skills & knowledge required:
Experience working with TOEFL testing, CLEP, and Accuplacer testing.
Experience working with adult learners in language development and writing needs.
Oral presentation and written communication skills.
Computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite. Able to produce spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations.
Experience with data systems such as Jenzabar or Datatel required.
Team player with demonstrated customer service skills.
Ability to multi-task.
Able to exercise good judgment with test results and other decisions regarding students. Demonstrates good decision making skills.
Physical effort required:
Able to lift 40 lbs.
Able to climb stairs.
