A. Works individually or in small groups with clients on career, employment and educational activities
B. Conducts seminars on relevant topics
C. Conducts case management; screen potential applications, assist client to create and implement Plan of Action ( POA ) and follow up on client progress
D. Assists client in completing career assessments, discuss possible career choices and determine level of education needed for career goal
E. Creates a personalized, viable career/employment/education plan for each client
F. Assists client in resume preparation, and exploration of search engines available and use of social media
G. Maintains and update appropriate records such as job log, placement, attendance at seminar, interviews, etc.
H. Connects with local employers about job openings
I. Assist Program Specialist with duties such as communication with clients, data input, workshop registrations, Program events, and required reports
J. Maintains appropriate competency in contemporary computer technology
K. Performs other duties as assigned (M.E.)

Salary Range:
$15.58/hr minimum

Required Qualifications:
A. Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Business, or related Academic discipline
B. Minimum of one (1) year relevant experience in providing direct service to clients
C. Knowledge of career assessment instruments and the career coaching processes
D. Experience with career/employment coaching
E. Familiarity with review and preparation of resumes and cover letters
F. Knowledge of job search techniques and practices, including using social media and networking
G. Case management skills
H. Workshop presentation skills
I. Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and group communication skills
J. Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, and web-based sites

Preferred Qualifications:
A. Master’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, Public Administration, or related academic discipline
B. Experience with formal and informal career assessments, i.e. Self Directed Search, Myers Briggs Type Indicator or Strong Interest Inventory
C. Experience in resume preparation and job search
D. Familiarity with the issues related to displaced homemakers and single parents.

Hours of Work:
The Community Services Technician will be employed on a twelve-month basis, working a maximum of 910 hours per funding year. Working hours will average 18 hours per week. Tentative schedule will be 2.5 days per week, with occasional Saturday or evening hours. Compensation and benefits shall be in accordance with the Non-Affiliated Hourly Handbook and pertinent Board of Trustees policies. Regular, prompt attendance shall be considered an essential job responsibility.
