Provides security for inmates housed at the Jackson County Detention Center.
The employee must follow written procedures and guidelines in the department's policy and procedure manual.
The incumbent may be assigned to different posts, areas and shifts depending upon the needs of the operation.
Incumbents will not work more than 20-hours within a 40 hour work week.
Incumbents primarily will be utilized on weekends; however, working on some other days of the week may be possible.
May work 4, 8, or 12 hours in a single workday depending on needs and availability of the part time employee.
Must have a High School diploma/GED (Bachelor’s Degree in corrections preferred)
Be 21 years of age
Have/maintain valid Missouri/Kansas driver’s license
Have/maintain working telephone in the residence.
Must pass Corrections Officer exam (previous Jackson County Corrections Officers are exempt from taking exam), police background/motor vehicle record check, drug screen test and physical examination.
Must maintain sufficient physical dexterity to perform essential elements of the position. Non-smokers preferred.
