The job of Custodian II is done for the purpose/s of maintaining an attractive, sanitary and safe facility for
students, staff and public; providing equipment and furniture arrangements for meetings, classroom
activities and events and minimizing property damage, loss and liability exposure.
Assists in sanitation control, security and safety hazards for the purpose of ensuring that the site is
suitable for safe operations, maintained in an attractive and clean condition, and/or identifying
necessary repairs due to vandalism, equipment breakage, weather conditions, etc.
Cleans classrooms, cafeterias, hallways, restrooms, offices, special area rooms, locker rooms, sidewalks
and other areas as they are assigned for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe and attractive
Empties trash receptacles for the purpose of maintaining a clean and sanitary facility.
Moves furniture and equipment for the purpose of cleaning around that area.
Reports safety hazards and needs for major repairs to supervisor for the purpose of identifying necessary
repairs due to vandalism, equipment breakage, weather conditions, etc.
Responsible for building security for the purpose of minimizing property damage, equipment loss and
potential liability to organization.
Sweeps dusts, vacuums, scrubs, waxes and polishes floors for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary,
safe and attractive environment.
Washes windows, walls, woodwork and other equipment for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary,
clean, and attractive facility.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLS are required to perform single, non-technical tasks using existing skills. Specific skills required
to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices.
KNOWLEDGE is required to read and follow instructions; and understand written and oral instructions.
Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: basic knowledge
of cleaning procedures
ABILITY is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; gather and/or collate data; and consider a
variety of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of
circumstances; work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate equipment using a
variety of processes. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals; work with specific,
job-related data; and utilize a variety of types of job-related equipment. In working with others,
problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data may
require independent interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is significant. Specific
abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: proper use of job-related

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical
demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent climbing and balancing;
frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally
the job requires 5% sitting, 20% walking, and 75% standing. The job is performed under minimal
temperature variations and in varying atmospheric conditions.
High School diploma or equivalent.
