Under specific direction, the Part-Time Programmer (Lab Assistant I) will contribute to the maintenance and programming of computer systems utilized in developing methods for cancer therapy in collaboration with a variety of UCSD and MSU clinicians, bioengineers and physicists. Will work with a variety of programming languages (including R and Python) and programs to assist researchers with data analysis and management.
This part-time position is ideal for an undergraduate Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Bioengineering, or a related field, student seeking further experience in the field of study.
Requires a high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill and abilities have been attained. Undergraduate enrolled in a relevant information technology program (computer science, information systems, etc.) is strongly preferred.
Experience in Python and R is desirable, but not required.
Must be organized and perform accurate work, have strong communication skills, and the ability to learn department-specific programs and systems as needed.
This is a part-time position, approximately 10-15 hours per week, with hours to be arranged. This position is not eligible for benefits.
