Under limited supervision, provides information services and direct assistance to persons contacting the Georgia Department of Education with educational concerns and requests via phone, email, other written correspondence, or in person. Duties include, but are not limited to, responding to a broad spectrum of constituents including other department personnel, local school personnel, parents, students, and the general public; listening to and answering inquiries and complaints about specific situations, circumstances, and decisions to promote understanding of educational practices and to receive feedback of opinions from constituents; working collaboratively with department subject matter experts to provide informed responses to inquires; and tracking contacts/inquiries via an online tracking application.
Bachelor’s degree in education, education administration, or a related field and six years of experience in an education field which included education administration, constituent services, communications, or a related area.
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
• Excellent writing skills
• Master’s degree in education, education administration, or a related field
• Experience in a leadership role in a state or federal K-12 education agency
• Experience interpreting and applying rules, regulations, and laws
This is a part-time, hourly position with no benefits. The hourly rate is dependent on current employment, training, experience, and available funding.
