Select, arrange and facilitate clinical teaching experiences consistent with course objectives, current nursing practice, student level and program philosophy and framework.
Present and clarify course content, skills, learning experiences using varied methodology appropriate to content, student learning level and learning style.
Evaluate student attainment of course objectives using approved evaluation tools and established guidelines.
Demonstrate clinical nursing expertise. Serve as a positive role model. Promote a safe physical and psychological environment conducive to effective learning.
Participate in all aspects of program development, including, but not limited to, assessment of student learning outcomes, curriculum, clinical policies, student evaluation, learning resources, and outcome evaluation.
Attend program and faculty meetings. Collaborate with adjunct faculty.
Demonstrate ability to engage students to think critically while participating in the learning process.
Demonstrate ability to establish and maintain effective and positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and community members.
Carry out faculty responsibilities delineated in the collective bargaining agreement.
Teach a variety of courses in the subject area.
Position could be at any one of our campuses and could be daytime, evening and/or weekends.
Part-time faculty assignments are filled on an as needed basis utilizing this open and ongoing applicant pool. The number of available openings will vary from semester to semester. Qualified candidates will be contacted by the division should a vacancy arise.
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college which shall include courses in nursing or in natural behavioral or social sciences relevant to nursing practice.
At least one year's continuous, full-time experience in direct patient care practice as a registered nurse.
Current California RN licensure or ability to obtain through endorsement.
Provide clear evidence of a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Appointment subject to approval to teach by the California Board of Registered Nursing.
Prior Board of Registered Nursing approval to teach Med/Surg, OB, MH, Peds, Gerontology, or ability to be approved.
