Hourly salary:
EMT-B $13.00/hr
EMT-I $14.00/hr
EMT-Paramedic $16.00/hr

Operate transportation vehicles under departmental guidelines during the transportation of clients to appropriate medical facility working as a member of City of Sterling Fire Department by performing the following duties and complying with Colorado Board of Health Rules and City of Sterling medical protocols.

Essential functions:

Administer and provide comprehensive emergency and non-emergency medical care pursuant to level of state certification, consistent with departmental protocols;
Subject to 24-hour call back for emergency conditions;
Drive and operate department apparatus in emergency and non-emergency situations; provides routine cleaning of vehicles, equipment, maintain daily maintenance records and complete maintenance and equipment reports;

Knowledge of:
  • Safety standards, procedures, and precautions utilized in emergency activities;
  • Geography and location of major facilities;
  • Emergency medical practices and CPR procedures;
  • Basic triage and basic maneuvers to gain access to the patient;
  • Infection control policies and procedures;
  • Safe and appropriate use of emergency equipment and related tools;
  • HIPAA guidelines;

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Education : High School completion or G.E.D. certification
Experience : Less than six (6) months, some experience in operating heavy trucks preferred
Training/Certifications :
Must be Colorado State certified EMT Basic, EMT I or EMT-P;
Must maintain licensing and certification, once attained, continuously throughout employment.
Must have current CPR and maintain throughout employment
Special Requirements:
Must be 21 years of age;
Possession of the appropriate valid CO operator’s license for the type of City owned vehicle which the employee may operate in the scope of employment;
Must possess acceptable driving history- acceptable will be defined as no license suspension within the last five (5) years previous from date of hire and no additional citations after reinstatement of the suspended driver’s license.
