The Pathologist Assistant, under the supervision of the Medical Director, examines, dissects and performs gross dictation, frozen sections, descriptions of surgical and biopsy specimens, and photographs surgical specimens. The Pathologist Assistant is responsible for the planning, organization and direction of non-medical operations pertaining to the appropriate dissection and tissue handling of surgical and biopsy specimens. The Pathologist Assistant will also assist with the instruction of the residents and laboratory staff in the gross dissection of specimens.
Skills & Abilities:
Work independently performing high complexity testing.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Excellent computer skills which include laboratory information and voice recognition systems,
Microsoft Word, Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint
Training & Education:
B.S. degree and Master's degree required
ASCP registry or eligible required
One year Pathologist Assistant experience preferred.
