Responsible for processing, follow-up, and completing all requisition for patients utilizing Jordan Hospital Laboratory services. Includes entering the appropriate diagnostic testing orders, diagnosis, ICD-9 codes, demographics and insurance information into the Meditech system to facilitate patient care and Hospital billing procedures. Ensures that patient demographics flow through the Laboratory registration systems as quickly and efficiently as possible while ensuring that all fiscal procedures are followed in a consistent manner. Functions as a Liaison for patients with questions regarding their insurance coverage, preparations or general questions. Performs clerical duties assigned by and under the direct supervision of the Laboratory Assistant Coordinator. Contacts M.D. offices on a regular basis to retrieve needed information. Updates patient demographics as needed. VALCO scanning & NEHEN.
Knowledge of Medical Terminology, problem solving techniques, strong interpersonal skills, effective oral and written communication skills, strong keyboarding and basic computer skills.
Previous experience with Hospital registration & Meditech.
Unit Coordinator and/or Patient Accounts experience preferred.
High degree of patient and M.D. office contact - Demonstrated ability to function independently with minimal supervision.
Possesses good decision-making skills and demonstrated ability to work under pressure while maintaining a helpful and courteous manner.
Must type accurately at 40 wpm
