Responsible for the supervision of nursing activities by planning, and directing such activities to provide maximum patient care within budgetary allowances. Maintains quality of patient care. Interprets procedures and policy and reviews work performed to determine conformance to recognized standards. Investigates and studies trends and developments in nursing practice to evaluate their adaptability to present use. Coordinates services rendered by nursing personnel with those rendered by personnel in other departments. Processes information on Center's Health Information System as required in performing and/or carrying out job responsibilities. Engages in educational opportunities, attends or participates in inservices and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to areas of practice. Maintains proficiency in clinical and administrative skills. Is directly responsible to the Chief Nursing Officer.
Graduate of an approved school of nursing. Current licensure with the North Carolina State Board of Nursing. Advance preparation in administrative techniques with at least two years clinical experience involving management and the principles of supervision. BSN or Master's preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of general nursing therapy and practice including biological, physical, social, and medical science and their application to providing patient services. Thorough knowledge of organization and functions of all departments and with the policies, regulations and procedures of the hospital and EMR (Meditech). Knowledge of the application of principles of personnel administration in assigning, supervising, and evaluating staff activities. BLS, ACLS, PALS and NRP is required .
