The Patient Coordinator is expected to handle multiple doctors at one session and multiple phone calls that include making, rescheduling and canceling appointments. This position will handle mailing lab letters, physician letters, and miscellaneous mailings, making referral appointments and obtaining authorizations from payers, and performing minimal patient care activities. This position will also backup the front desk on occasion and work with minimal supervision.
High school diploma/GED and three years experience in a medical front and back office setting is required. Candidates must have a current national CMA certification. In addition, candidates must know how to use a computer in order to check patients in and out, to post payments, and to scan. Candidate must also have direct hands on experience with an electronic medical record, preferably e-MDs. Candidate must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must have strong organization skills with the ability to multi-task. Knowledge of medical terminology and some aspects of coding and insurance coverage is desirable.
Selection of the final candidate is contingent upon successful completion of a credit and criminal background check.
