This position will be responsible for processing semi-monthly multi-state payroll for approximately 175 employees. The working hours will range from 20-25 hours per week. Days of the week are flexible.

DUTIES

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local wage and hour laws
  • Verify benefit deductions are transferred from benefit management system to payroll
  • Notify employees of any changes to benefit deductions
  • Review timesheet entries for accuracy; query managers on entries as needed
  • Import data and make necessary entries into payroll system
  • Ensure that supporting documentation is provided and appropriate approval has been obtained for all entries
  • Calculate and enter data for retroactive increases
  • Process all garnishments and liens
  • Provide preview to Director of Human Resources and Group Controller for final payroll editing and approval
  • Track paid time off for all employees
  • Assist employees who have problems accessing online paycheck information
  • Perform manual check calculations; provide data to Accounting for check creation
  • Research payroll and withholding questions online and by phone with agencies such as the IRS
  • Produce reports for management and agencies such as overtime report, multi-jurisdiction report, etc.
  • Manage workers compensation claims, requests, reports, and communications
  • Manage unemployment claims
  • Complete third-party employment verifications
  • Manage performance review schedules; follow-up with managers/employees until review is received
  • Support Director of Human Resources with HR duties
  • Perform miscellaneous office duties as needed
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of two years experience as a payroll specialist
  • Expertise in ADP Enterprise version required
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local wage and hour laws
  • Familiarity with unemployment laws
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Outstanding math and spreadsheet skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with managers, employees, and outside agencies
  • Excellent organizational skills
