8 hour shift: 7:00 am – 3:30 pm, including weekends.

Graduate of a nursing program required; BSN preferred
Current unencumbered California Registered Nurse licensure required
Current CPR certification required
CRNN certification preferred
Charge Nurse experience required
1 year recent Medical Surgical experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting required
Experience in Rehabilitation Nursing with Acute Traumatic Spinal Cord Injury, Acute Traumatic Brain Injury and Stroke patients preferred
Orthopedic or Neurological nursing preferred
Excellent communication, interpersonal and critical thinking skills
Previous experience in Medical/Surgical, Orthopedic or Neurological nursing necessary
Ability to provide comprehensive care to a broad spectrum of acute rehab patients required with demonstrated competence in carrying out professional RN role responsibilities
Performs the nursing process through individualized assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of safe, therapeutic, efficient care for patients with overt needs throughout the continuum of care, and according to unit’s standards of care. Performs safe nursing care for patients with assistance and supervision. Accountable for own practice. Demonstrates baseline competency in all areas of the unit skills. Safely administers medication and uses common equipment. Works closely with others on the healthcare team to coordinate care. Demonstrates ability to organize and prioritize the workload, recognize emergency situation, and appropriately seeks assistance. Complies with all regulatory and accreditation standards.
This is a 30 bed Acute In-patient Rehabilitation Nursing Unit at Sharp Memorial Hospital. This unit is specializing in the comprehensive care of acute Traumatic Spinal Cord and Brain Injured patients and Stroke patients, Neurological Impaired patients as well as Cardiac Left Ventricular Assistive Device (LVAD) patients.
