The Performance Engineer is responsible for analyzing the performance of the Enel Green Power (“EGP”) projects located in North America and recommending operations activities to optimize performance.
The position will be focused at the beginning mostly in wind and hydro, with possible expansion to other technologies of Enel Green Power North America (“EGPNA”) portfolio.
The Performance Engineer will work in strong collaboration with the Operations team of each technology.

Responsibilities, include, but not limited to:
Complete assessments of project production, performance, reliability and availability
Manage SCADA data for all EGPNA wind projects
Complete in-depth analysis of SCADA data to identify and investigate specific phenomena such as underperformance or turbine malfunction
Quantify production losses and identify the root causes of common turbine faults
Recommend improvement activities to EGPNA Operations Managers to increase the performance of turbines
Complete periodic analysis of actual performance versus expected performance including, but not limited to turbine availability, windiness and turbine power performance (power curve)
Analyze EGPNA wind projects key performance indicators (KPIs) and issue periodic internal reports on overall wind performance portfolio and improvement action items
Provide periodic reporting to external investors
Assist in the development of long-term energy production forecasts
Assist in the calculation of liquidated damages claims
Complete periodic site visits, meeting with operations and maintenance staff to discuss develop solutions which minimize or eliminate lost production
Responsibilities for hydro analysis, include, but not limited to:
Complete assessments of project production, performance, reliability and availability
Create performance power curves based on plant data and hydro resource
Quantify production losses and identify the root causes of common faults
Complete periodic analysis of actual performance versus expected performance including, but not limited to plant availability, hydro resource and power performance (power curve)
Support management to complete in-depth analysis of plant data to identify and investigate specific phenomena such as underperformance or plant malfunction by developing long-term models to keep the assessment continuous and updated for each of the facilities
Support management in recommending improvement activities to increase the overall plant performance
Analyze EGPNA wind projects key performance indicators (KPIs) and issue periodic internal reports on overall hydro performance portfolio, related resource, and improvement action items
Assist in the development of long-term energy production forecasts
Assist in the calculation of liquidated damages claims
Complete periodic site visits, meeting with operations and maintenance staff to discuss develop solutions which minimize or eliminate lost production
Model operating and capital expenses related to power plant performance or future improvements

Other Duties:
Support implementation of ICT systems/or internal projects for automatic data gathering and automated performance analysis
Support definition and implementation of 3rd party consultants for outsourced service on operational assessment (as for example weather services, resource assessment, power curve assessment, reporting, software applications)
Availability for a strong collaboration with EGP colleagues in US and internationally
Expansion of performance analysis to other technologies within EGPNA portfolio

Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree, Engineering required
Master Degree (as a plus)
4-8 years of related experience
Previous experience of analyzing and interpreting wind turbine SCADA data
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong initiative and drive for high achievement
Demonstrated ability to work independently
Availability for domestic and international travel
Ability to work at heights up to 325 feet and climb ladders/stairs
Demonstrated high time availability and reliability
Project management skills
Active collaboration skills
