Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the University of Hawaii Cancer Center, Cancer Biology Program (CBP), located in Honolulu, Hawaii. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.
MONTHLY SALARY: Salary commensurate with qualifications.
DUTIES: Performs a variety of laboratory experiments in cellular and molecular biology. Carries out endothelial permeability analysis in static and flow conditions and mechanotransduction assays on cell cultures and animal tissues. Maintains mammalian cell lines and performs varied cellular based assays. Performs data management and prepares data for presentation in manuscripts, seminars, and other formats.
PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a Biological Science field. EXPERIENCE: At least three (3) years of experience working in a research laboratory performing flow assays, permeability measurements, and cell and molecular biological procedures. Experience with tissue culture and mechanical analysis of cells. ABIL/KNOW/SKILLS: Working knowledge of general principles of biological and biochemical subjects and endothelial cells under flow conditions. Knowledge of basic molecular biology. Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Able to use common PC software for word processing (e.g., Microsoft Word), database/spreadsheet (e.g., Microsoft Excel), and data analysis (e.g., Graphpad Prism). Able to be organized and present data effectively.
SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of acoustic microscopy, mechanical stretch, and mechanoelastic cell and tissue characterization.
