SUNY Empire State College seeks a part-time (80%) Human Resources Assistant (State Title: Personnel Assistant) in our Office of Human Resources located in Saratoga Springs, NY. The Human Resources Assistant will be responsible for the college’s performance management process for employees in various unions, including the tracking and reviewing of performance programs and evaluations, communicating with supervisors, sending monthly reminders and initiating the continuing/permanency process for faculty and professional employees. Additionally, the incumbent will develop quarterly status reports and ad hoc data reports for upper level management.
The Human Resources Assistant will serve in a generalist role with responsibilities in performance management, recruitment and training. They will work closely with a team of HR professionals in a culturally diverse, union environment and serve as a resource to college employees.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively, have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, attention to detail, the ability to set priorities and communicate effectively with all college faculty and staff.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution
- 2+ years of human resources related work experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and web based systems
- Demonstrated record of adaptability in learning new systems
- Human Resources experience in public and private sectors
Work Hours: Monday-Wednesday 8:30-5:00 and Friday 8:30-5:00.
