Cornell University Hospital for Animals (CUHA) provides leadership in patient care, education, and clinical investigation and scientific innovation and is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to work in a fast-paced, demanding and customer-driven environment. The CUHA Pharmacy processes 150-300 prescriptions per day working with faculty clinicians, residents, interns and veterinary students and with community veterinarians, fills mail orders, and provides over-the-counter items and prescription pet foods.
As part of a team devoted to providing exemplary customer service in the Pharmacy, this technician will prepare prescriptions for dispensing by a pharmacist to both inpatients and outpatients; answer phones and address customer requests, questions and concerns, including Cornell and non-Cornell veterinarians, students, staff and clients. Maintain accurate and detailed records regarding medications and controlled substances, in the pharmacy and the automated dispensing machines, in accordance with State and Federal regulatory requirements. Provide inventory management including ordering and receiving medications and supplies to maintain adequate stock in the pharmacy. Must develop and maintain excellent working relationships including communicating with staff, students, technicians, veterinarians and clients in a professional manner at all times.
This is a regular, part-time (24 hours) position. Primarily Monday-Friday 1pm-6pm, and will be required to participate in a rotating Saturday shift from 8am-12pm
Associates degree or equivalent with field of study in science, pharmacy technology or related area, 1-2 years of pharmacy technician experience in a retail or hospital setting or equivalent combination of education and experience required. A minimum of 8 weeks on the job training is necessary to be able to meet the responsibilities of this position. Must be able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, demanding environment handling multiple tasks with competing deadlines, while paying close attention to details. Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment, while demonstrating a high level of initiative. Excellent communication and organizational skills essential, along with strong attention to detail.
Pharmacy Technician certification desired but not required.
