The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for the completion of the routine workload in the specimen collection, processing, and office areas according to established laboratory policies and procedures.

Correctly identifies patient specimens according to established laboratory protocols.
Successfully collects venipuncture samples with minimal discomfort to the patient.
Successfully collects capillary samples with minimal discomfort to the patient.
Education: High School diploma or GED, Phlebotomy Certification
Experience: Two years experience in a hospital or medically related environment. Must be able to follow directions and to perform work according to department standards when no directions are given. Must be mature and able to function effectively under stress.
