The Phlebotomist demonstrates a working knowledge of clinical laboratory terminology and requirements; maintains a minimal miss and re-draw rate; performs patient identification and specimen labeling; provides complete, legible documentation; demonstrates knowledge and understanding of phlebotomy processes and techniques; performs, interprets and reports bedside testing; organizes and prioritizes workload and processes specimen requests; performs quality assurance processes; recognizes problems, takes appropriate action, documents problems and corrective action; actively communicates throughout the shift and manages priority requests to ensure effective department workflow and maintains service area cleanliness and supply inventory. Requirements: High school graduate or equivalent. • Six (6) months experience in medically related field/training Preferred: • Previous adult and pediatric phlebotomy experience.
