The Staff Physical Therapist (PT) is a licensed professional who evaluates patients; plans and implements treatment plans based on the evaluation, and educates patients, families and staff. He/She exercises initiative and judgement in delegating appropriate duties to support personnel and reevaluates and modifies treatment programs as necessary. He/She performs appropriate administrative duties and participates in educational programs as assigned or approved by the Director of Home Health. This position supervises PT Assistants, students, volunteers and Rehab support personnel.
The duties described herein are minimum standards and may be modified to meet the changing needs of WestCare Health System at any time.
A. Experience: One year PT experience preferred.
B. Other Qualifications:
1. Position requires Physical Therapy license in North Carolina and a current NC Driver's License.
2. Requires skills gained from successful completion of PT education.
3. BLS certification within 3 months of hire date.
Physically, the PT is required to assist in moving and lifting patients; to push/pull heavy objects (e.g. wheelchairs or stretchers); to stay on his/her feet for long periods; to bend and stoop; and to reach above shoulder height. Patients may vary in size from as little as 80 pounds to as large as 400 pounds and may be totally dependent in all aspects of daily living or relatively independent. There is limited exposure to infectious materials and diseases.
WestCare Health System shall endeavor to make starting/quitting times as desirable and convenient as possible; however, the workload shall be the determining factor. Unless otherwise stated, the normal working hours will be of Home Health (8:00 am to 4:30 PM Monday - Friday).
