The Mid-level Practitioner is accountable for delivering comprehensive quality patient care, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions according to standards of practice for children from birth through adolescence.
As a member of the Cardiothoacic Surgery team, performs the following functions:
- Surgical first assist
- Pre and Post Op care
- Rounding on patients
Two years experience in pediatrics required.
Cardio surgical specific experience strongly preferred.
Requires Physician Assistant OR Advanced Practice Register Nurse. Requires Physician Assistant to obtain and maintain certification upon hire and/or appointment or privilege approval. For PAs Certification, requires NCCPA certification at time of appointment or privilege approval; allow one-year grace period for renewal if gap.
Requires APRNs to obtain and maintain certification upon hire and/or appointment or privilege approval. For APRNs, certification must be from one of the national organizations as required based on CT Children's Bylaws.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 3 months of hire required.
Ability to manage complex family issues and provide patient/family teaching and discharge planning.
Proven commitment to providing pediatric healthcare in an urban community-based setting.
Willing to work flexible hours/days/weekends to meet the needs of patients, programs, and services.
Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work as a part of a team.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Bilingual and bicultural in English and Spanish preferred.
