A highly motivated physician's assistant is needed to assist in a Columbia University Medical Center cardiology physician practice, working with a senior cardiologist. The PA will be responsible, in part, for the assessment, diagnosis, and management of cardiology inpatients and outpatients. Responsibilities will include performing complete patient history and physical, reviewing laboratory tests, providing patient education, monitoring followup appointments, and placing Holter and 24-hour blood pressure monitors.

Responsibilities also include collaborating with physicians located at Columbia University Medical Center for patients admitted to and receiving treatment at the hospital as well as communicating with referring physicians. The PA is responsible for providing clinical support to nursing and non-nursing staff related to patient care and referral inquiries. The selected candidate will use an electronic health record (EHR).

In addition, a significant portion of the PA's time will be required for administrative tasks such as scheduling and obtaining preauthorization for tests from insurance companies and supporting the full-time secretary when the office is busy.

Minimum Qualifications for Grade
Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant

The PA must be a graduate of an accredited physician's assistant program from a recognized college or university. Current New York physician's assistant license, BCLS and ACLS certification with recent cardiology experience, excellent interpersonal and communication (both written and verbal) skills required.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong cardiac experience is preferred. Familiarity with CUMC/NYPH is a plus.
