The University is accepting applications for this position on a regular basis. When an opening is available your application will be considered in the candidate pool. The position of Student Assistant Instructor is designed to support the lead instructor in teaching an inquiry-based introductory physics course. The duties of the Student Assistant Instructor will, in general, include: - Assisting in class when students are engaged in group activities, which will include laboratory activities and group problem-solving sessions. - Setting up and tearing down laboratory equipment, which may include working with the laboratory manager to make sure equipment is available before the class period. - Assisting the lead instructor with in-class demonstrations; grading selected assignments, particularly those associated with laboratory activities. - Managing a class session for the lead instructor if he or she cannot be in class. The specific duties expected from the Student Assistant Instructor will be negotiated with the lead instructor before the course begins. These duties can be adjusted as the course progresses if both lead instructor and assistant instructor agree.
