Jacobs provides facility engineering, maintenance and operations, and institutional services to support NASA's missions at Stennis Space Center (SSC), a potentially 10-year effort with an estimated value of $561 million. Jacobs also supports programs for more than 30 other Federal and state agencies located at SSC that share and utilize the Center's facilities and services. Our support to FOSC continues a tradition of four-decades-plus of support to SSC, beginning with the design of the test stands for the Apollo program's rockets in early 1960s through today's support to the Constellation program.
Installs, operates, tests, insulates and repairs pipe systems ranging in size from 1/4" to 30" in diameter flowing water, steam, petroleum, gas, air and waste; installs and repairs plumbing fixtures; plans and lay out work from blueprints, drawings, plans and other specifications; determines type and quality of materials; cuts, bends and threads pipe using hand or machine powered tools and equipment; attaches fixtures, valves, couplings, and fittings to pipes and tubing by various methods; tests and inspects systems for leaks, pressure and malfunctions; replaces defective pipes and fixtures; opens clogged drains; performs general maintenance work as required; overhauls pumps, valves and related controls. Assist or perform work of mechanical nature as required.
High school graduate or GED equivalent with successful completion of related vocational program. Minimum of five (5) years directly related experience in the field of Mechanical Technician may be substituted for education requirements.
