The Montgomery County Planning Department in Silver Spring has an opening for a master planner/supervisor of development review for Area 3. This position provides an opportunity to shape the rural and upper portions of Montgomery County, Maryland. The position of master planner/supervisor for Area 3 will lead a team performing development review for project plans, sketch plans, preliminary plans, site plans, forest conservation plans and plan amendments. The ideal candidate will have outstanding analytical capabilities, and a proven record of providing leadership and negotiating successfully for the highest quality of development. The candidate should have a strong understanding of the review of commercial and residential development in upper Montgomery County, forest conservation laws, subdivision and development regulations, zoning ordinances, agricultural preservation initiatives, and Hansen development tracking software. This position requires extensive experience in project leadership and development coordination. The ideal candidate must also demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work directly with residents, developers, planners, architects, engineers, attorneys and public officials. This position will be required to review and process a high volume of projects in a diverse setting. Fieldwork and occasional evening meetings are required. Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in planning, architecture, engineering, environmental science, public administration, or related fields, and six years of progressively responsible provfessional planning experience that included at least three years of supervisory experience OR project leadership and coordination experience; OR and equivalent combination of education and experience.
