OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES: The primary work of this position is to integrate the programmatic, logistic and fiscal aspects of the department. Working with Department staff creates systems for campaign operations and program finances|
. Leads department process to link strategic programmatic purpose to office travel. Tracks meetings of the department, state federations, local councils, affiliates and allies and works with department leads to integrate program. Puts systems in place for staff and resource tracking. Provides technical and logistical support for department campaigns.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Works with executive office staff to ensure officers have what they need in the field, including briefings and assistance from field staff if requested. Seeks feedback after travel for debrief.
Informs Regional Directors and other staff of officer travel schedule on a regular basis.
Attends officer scheduling meetings for the Department.
Works with appropriate staff and affiliates to coordinate affiliate principle travel as needed.
Helps to ensure department led meetings occur as scheduled or are rescheduled as needed and budget and logistics are in place for them. Works with appropriate administrative staff to coordinate meeting logistics as needed.
Works to collect information to ensure Campaigns staff are aware of the important meetings of the federation, labor councils and affiliates and allies.
In conjunction with GOLD team, connects new staff to orientation of the federation and its policies, structure and program as needed.
Identify staff and other resources in the field and work with department staff to create a system to track said resources.
Responsible for putting together policies around resources and offices including "shut down" procedures for staff, offices, equipment.
Identify areas where the federation can help to maximize resources for state and local bodies.
Creates and coordinates system for program financial approval.
Works with Department Administer to coordinate staffing logistics for the department.
Liaisons with IT, Digital Department and other departments to ensure campaign technology is user friendly and sufficient for campaign program use.
Works with Political, Human Resources and other departments to set up DC based campaign operations.
Work with Campaigns department or other AFL-CIO department leads to coordinate programs as assigned.

Bachelor's Degree required.
Experience working with principle or elected official scheduling tying to campaign priorities, media markets, targeting. Demonstrated experience compiling political briefings for principles including an understanding and background in campaign strategy summaries.
Demonstrated experience with national organization's operations procedures as it relates to resources in states.
Demonstrated experience overseeing political operations, payroll-type systems and compliance preferred.
Understanding of working with consultant contracts, vendors and rental agreements.
Demonstrated experience overseeing large operations tasks, tying approval and budgeting to procedures
Knowledge of and experience with both national and local structures of the labor movement preferred.
Demonstrated ability to work independently within the context of a plan.
Demonstrated experience navigating political and issue campaign program, staff, and mechanics.
Demonstrated ability to exercise good political judgment.
