Primary Purpose of Position: Manages the plant production control function as directed. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: · Responsible for maintaining a safe and secure work environment. This includes correcting unsafe · acts/conditions, facilitating monthly safety meetings, performing monthly safety inspections, and investigating accidents, as required. · Supports development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the food safety system. · Provides administration and supervision of the plant production control function as directed. · Schedules production of products and labels as necessary to fulfill customer requirements, meet shipping schedules, and maintain appropriate inventory levels. · Secures and/or administers outside warehousing as needed to accommodate storage of finished goods. · Monitors and ensures adequate supply and/or return of appropriate packaging material for finished goods. · Provides daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly production, spoilage, and sales data. · Provides necessary records for raw material and finished goods inventory-reporting systems. · Provides requirements, scheduling, and shipments of scrap and finished goods. · Supervises the receipt, storage, and control of raw material for use in production. · Arranges for the ordering and shipment of metal and supplies with group purchasing. · Forecasts production, sales, and metal requirements for plant and group office use. · Schedules raw materials for use in production and coordinates with the group offices the shipment and in-plant inventories of metal. · May supervise the plant graphics system and interface with POC graphics personnel and customers to ensure correct graphics are available to meet customer requirements. · May direct and coordinate the activities of the plant storeroom system to ensure safe and efficient shipping and receiving procedures, as well as effective management of spare parts and other miscellaneous inventories. · May supervise the plant warehouse function. · May supervise the plant storeroom function. · Monitors and ensures the safety and maintenance of all plant material handling equipment, if applicable. · Reviews all invoices for outside product storage, special warehouse and packaging material sort and repair, and forklift expenses, if applicable. · Monitors and ensures all product shipping activity by daily contact with the plant sole source carrier, if applicable. · May monitor and ensure the accuracy of all packaging return bills of lading, plant tracking system, and the customer PMS system. · Accesses, inputs, and retrieves information from the computer. · Initiates, reviews, masters, and follows all standard operating procedures (SOPs) for area of responsibility. · Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the division, the group, and the company. Includes ability to handle stress and to interact with others so as to establish and maintain a positive and productive work environment and minimize personal conflicts. · Performs those administrative activities necessary for effective management, including provision for selection and development of employees, salary administration, budget administration, employee safety, employee counseling, motivation, meeting objectives, planning, organizing, integrating and measuring the work performed within the organization. · Regular and predictable attendance is required between the assigned start and end times of work. · Assures and maintains safe and healthful working conditions while enforcing safety rules and regulations.
Position Requirements: · Broad training in a related professional field usually acquired through college level education or work related experience. · Job-related experience for 2 years minimum. · Working knowledge of the following areas: business principles, legal practices, customer needs and expectations, production control practices and principles, and generally accepted managerial practices and procedures. · Ability to apply intensive and diversified evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard plant production control techniques, procedures, and criteria. · Ability to negotiate with customers/contractors to promote or sell ideas or concepts. · Ability to operate and functionally use a computer. · Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. · Must be able to handle sensitive related and proprietary information in a confidential manner. · Performs such individual assignments as management may direct. · Must follow company policies, procedures, practices, and standards of conduct as outlined in the Ball Corporation manuals.
