Founded in 1960, The JBG Companies (JBG) is at the forefront of the Washington Metropolitan Area’s real estate market, one of the most dynamic in the world. As a prominent investor, owner and developer, JBG invests almost exclusively in urban-infill, transit-oriented developments – assets that by virtue of location, physical quality, available amenities or other specific features, possess a sustainable advantage over their competition.
JBG’s track record in securing superior, risk-adjusted returns is widely recognized. Our portfolio encompasses over twenty-one million square feet of office, residential, hotel and retail space. Having deep experience across all product types enables us to diversify our investments, take advantage of market opportunities, and mitigate risk through market cycles. We apply skill, experience and rigor to creating and preserving outstanding value for our investors.
In 1999 JBG created its first co-investment opportunity fund. Since that time JBG has raised approximately $5.5 billion of fund capital and has made over 150 investments on behalf of its investment funds. Investment opportunities are focused on close-in, high barrier-to-entry submarkets, within close proximity to areas of mass transit and include properties across four product types: office; residential; grocery-anchored and urban retail; and hotel. JBG is currently investing its eighth opportunity fund, JBG Investment Fund VIII, with capital commitments of $752.5 million.
Portfolio Analysts perform detailed analysis of JBG’s opportunity funds, with a primary responsibility for semi-annual fund rollups, as well as quarterly reporting and investor relations. Responsibilities also include analysis on existing income-producing and development assets for purposes of internal tracking and decision making. The Portfolio Analyst will interact with development teams, acquisition teams, and senior management of JBG. The Portfolio Analyst role will provide a valuable opportunity to (i) deepen analytical and financial modeling skills, (ii) develop real estate valuation skills, (iii) gain exposure to many commercial properties types, and (iv) interact with senior executives across the firm.
