Overview:
Provide operational and analytical support necessary to facilitate the Investment Management Strategy of the Municipal mandate.

Responsibilities:

Portfolio Management
  • Aid in the implementation of portfolio strategy at the account level, incorporating variation across guidelines and mandate types to ensure consistency of positioning within the entire municipal sector.
  • Work directly with Portfolio Managers to adjust dedicated Muni portfolios and non-dedicated muni portfolios for cash inflows, outflows, or changes in investment guidelines so that exposures across all relevant risk characteristics (e.g. issuer exposure) are consistent with the articulated strategy of the Municipal team.
  • Participate in municipal markets team meetings. Work with the portfolio management team to implement trading strategies across different account and mandate types, ensuring translation of broad portfolio strategy into executable trades in an effort to ensure best, and timely, execution of trade ideas.
  • Review daily Compliance reports for actionable items.
  • Monitor portfolio cash flows and cash projections.
Analytics and Programming
  • Partner with the portfolio management team to conduct adhoc analysis of strategies contemplated looking at risks, reward, and correlations potentially across multiple asset classes.
  • Utilize VBA, Excel, and MS Access to maintain and develop models and reports built for the PM team
Trade Support
  • Responsible for pre-trade compliance workflow including data entry, allocation and hedge calculations.
  • Ensure trades are posted timely, meeting all settlements and market deadlines.
  • Monitor status of analytic, rate and pricing data within systems, specifically trading system tools, reports, cash management system, benchmark and data warehouse; escalating issues as needed.
  • Provide phone support as needed.
Client Service
  • Prepare materials for meetings with the Client Service department.
  • Respond to client requests.
  • Monitor our Business Process Management tool and process tasks assigned for account transitions.
  • Liaise with other departments as warranted.

Competencies:
  • Knowledge of fixed income securities required.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a strong interest in core aspects of economics/finance.
  • Solid knowledge of VBA, Excel, and MS Access
  • Ability to think in abstract and critical ways
  • Possess strong financial and quantitative skills.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required in Finance, Economics, Mathematics or relevant degree. Work experience may offset academic requirement.
