Job Description
The candidate for this position will actively participate on interdisciplinary projects to study the environmental impact of conventional hydropower and hydrokinetic renewable energy systems. The primary scope of this position includes development and implementation of computational and experimental tools to detect and track fish or other animals in the river or ocean using underwater acoustic telemetry, large-scale data processing and analysis, and journal article and technical report writing.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates must have received a PhD within the past five years from an accredited college or university.

All staff at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory must be able to demonstrate the legal right to work in the United States.
Candidates must have received a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, mechanics, electrical engineering, physical oceanography, or a related field.
The candidate must have extensive experience with underwater acoustics and digital signal acquisition and processing. The candidate must have strong mathematical and analytical skills, and experience solving nonlinear equation systems and spatial filtering. The candidate must also have good programming skills (MATLAB or C++), experience with analysis and visualization tools (e.g., MATLAB; Tecplot), and experience processing large datasets from multiple sources.

The candidate must have demonstrated commitment to data quality and accuracy. The candidate must have strong written and oral communication skills as evidenced by scientific publication and conference presentations within the past five years. In addition, the successful candidate must be able to work well in a team setting, exhibit a strong work ethic, and be self-motivated. Some experience with acoustic modeling, experimental fluid dynamics, and surface water instrumentation is also desirable.
3.5 or higher GPA is preferred
