The primary responsibility of the Security Engineer is to provide pre and post sales security engineering services for customers.
The tasks and responsibilities of the Security Engineer include the following:
Implement security products including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and various other security products.
Perform security audits and assessments.
Generate engineering requirements (including descriptions of requirements and solutions) for proposals.
Manage customer expectations and deliverables.
Act as a 2nd-level escalation engineer for security trouble tickets from the Managed Services unit.
Present educational seminars on network security.
Obtain and maintain vendor engineering certifications required for service delivery.
As a primary provider of security consulting to the Customer, provide security consulting and engineering services that assure a high degree of Customer satisfaction.
Provide timely and accurate information regarding the above to:
oOther Security Engineers
oEngineers from other Business Units
oAccount Mangers and Inside Sales Reps
oProject Managers (when a PM is required)
Participate in high-level security project discussions with Customers and employees
5+ years experience as a Security Engineer.
Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills.
Excellent written communications skills,
Excellent organizational skills with ability to team with others to develop and implement complex security projects.
Detailed experience and certification in the Cisco, Symantec, and Check Point security product suites (minimum full certification in at least one of these).
Thorough networking, network design and network security experience.
Thorough understanding of routing protocols and networking fundamentals.
Experience with a broad range of security products such as Firewalls, IDS/IPS systems, AV, VPNs, Authentication, Content Filtering, etc...
Familiarity with business and functional requirements collection.
Ability to perform a variety of projects with limited supervision.
Solid analytical skills in troubleshooting complex and technical problems.
CCNP Security highly preferred.
Experience with commercial or freeware security products (Firewalls, VPN, Intrusion Detection).
UNIX familiarity - Solaris, Linux or BSD a plus.
Current Microsoft MCSE certification a plus.
Security audit and assessment experience a plus.
Security audit and assessment certification (e.g. NSA-IAM) a plus.
The job is approximately 20% pre-sales support and design and 80% technical implementation. Less than 50% travel required.
