Post-doctoral position in Neurophysiology to study synaptic, cellular and network properties of cortical, thalamic and brainstem circuits involved in sensorimotor information processing. The project investigates how neural circuits dynamically change activity and responsiveness during different behavioral states in rodents. We are particularly interested in the neural mechanisms by which the significance of sensory stimuli is modified through experience. The successful candidate will employ whole-cell and/or extracellular recordings together with optogenetics in slices and/or in vivo to study the regulation of synaptic connections and cellular excitability in these circuits. The lab will provide access to an assortment of electrophysiological, optogenetic, neurochemical, histological and behavioral procedures. Experience with some of these procedures is highly desirable.
