Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Department of Chemistry, Structure Based Drug Design project, located in Honolulu, Hawaii. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.


DUTIES: Conducts experiments to support drug design research on Stat3 proteins. Expresses, purifies, characterizes, and crystallizes proteins and determines the crystal structure of Stat3-drug complexes. Conducts data analysis and prepares results for presentations and publications.

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: PhD from an accredited college or university in Pharmacology, Biochemistry, or a related field. EXPERIENCE: One to three (1-3) years of experience in protein biochemistry, including protein function and ligand binding assays. One to three (1-3) years of experience in molecular pharmacology, including studies of structure and function. Must be lead author of at least one (1) relevant peer-reviewed paper. ABIL/KNOW/SKILLS: Expert knowledge of pharmacology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and structural biology. Able to design and execute biochemical experiments and analyze data, this includes, ligand binding assays, High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), enzyme kinetics, and protein structure/function analysis.
