This job posting is no longer available on Nature Jobs.

Position: The Experimental Neuroimaging Laboratory at the Biomedical Research Imaging Center ( BRIC ) and Department of Neurology at the University of North Carolina ( UNC ) at Chapel Hill is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate interested in preclinical functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) research. Experience in (i) hand-on small animal fMRI experiments, (ii) fMRI data analysis, and (iii) rodent neuroscience research is desirable.

About us: We currently equip a 9.4 Tesla Bruker Biospec scanner for small animal MRI research. Our group focuses on developing and applying fMRI technologies to study neurovascular functions in the rodent brain, with an ultimate goal of translating preclinical indications to successful clinical development. Our current projects include: (i) deep brain stimulation fMRI, optogenetic fMRI, and pharmacogenetic fMRI in normal and Parkinsonian animal models and (ii) high resolution dynamic MRI of stroke and periinfarct spreading depolarization.

About BRIC : Substantial investment by the State of North Carolina has been dedicated to the development of a comprehensive imaging research program at UNC -Chapel Hill, including multiple imaging equipment, faculty positions and a new Imaging Research Building. A comprehensive collection of human and animal imaging systems is currently housed in the BRIC , including a 3T whole body MRI and a hybrid 3T PET - MRI scanner for human imaging. A 7T whole body MRI scanner, a cyclotron, and a whole body PET /CT scanner will be installed upon the completion of the new building. Animal imaging facility houses a 9.4T MRI scanner, a microPET/CT, a microSPECT/CT, a carbon-nanotube microCT, a specimen CT, multiple optical imaging and ultrasound systems.
