Purpose Conduct research related to advanced interface methods in heterogeneous porous materials within the Center for Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering.

Essential Functions Simulate and analyze fluid flow in the models built; conduct relevant pore scale simulations. Perform image-based micro-fracture and pore structure characterization. Write papers and present results at relevant professional meetings and conferences.

Marginal/Incidental functions Other related functions as assigned.

Required qualifications PhD in applied mathematics, physics or a relevant engineering discipline with research focus on flow in porous media.

Preferred Qualifications Previous experience with fluid flow modeling (on pore scale), programming in C/C++ or image-based rock structure characterization.

A criminal history background check will be required for finalist(s) under consideration for this position.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas ( TRS ), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program ( ORP ) instead of TRS , subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
