Requires a Ph.D. in Condensed Matter Physics, Materials Science or closely related fields. Solid background in transmission electron microscopy, and in structural characterization is required, as well as effective communication skills. Experience in in situ electron microscopy, or imaging processing is beneficial. Research projects include development of high-resolution secondary-electron imaging technique on metal oxides and TEM study on functional oxide materials. The position will provide an exceptional opportunity for research at the forefront of electron microscopy, and for collaborations with leading experimental groups working on catalysts and ferroelectrics. This work will be conducted under the direction of Dr. Dong Su of the Electron Microscopy Group. The associate will work closely with Dr. Yimei Zhu in the Condensed Matter Physics and Materials Science Department. BNL policy states that research associate appointments may be made to individuals who have received their Ph.D. within the past five years.
