Provide technical engineering support to the Power Generation Department to ensure safe reliable operations. Monitor, evaluate, troubleshoot and take corrective action on plant electrical and control functions. Manage assigned projects.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Manage and support electrical and/or controls projects including scope, plan, specify, and direct work.
Conduct monitoring, data collection and analysis for electrical/control systems.
Plan and manages major electrical activities throughout the year and monitors variances.
Updates electrical/control maintenance procedures, evaluates and documents changes and upgrades.
Prepare and review plant procedures and system descriptions as assigned. Specify training for employees on plant electrical operating and maintenance tasks related to assigned projects.
Assist in budget preparation for assigned areas of capital, maintenance and operation activities.
Evaluate and report on performance of electrical systems.
Project management from conception to completion on capital and O&M projects.
Evaluates and directs the condition monitoring programs of plant electrical and control equipment, including alarms.
Evaluates and directs testing plant electrical/control equipment.
Administers processes and procedures as required by RCM.
Maintain a positive professional working relationship with internal and external customers.
Work closely with engineering, operation, and maintenance personnel.
Three years of Power Plant or Industrial Process engineering experience required.
Five years of Power Plant or Industrial Process engineering experience preferred.
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and/or Electrical Controls.
Good knowledge of basic principles of power generation, electrical engineering, systems control principles and instrumentation.
Understanding of administration, accounting principles, and project management.
Understanding of PLC's and programming Controls/Logic - Allen Bradley, ABB Symphony/Harmony or other ladder logic and block function logic experience.
Mark 5 and higher GE and Siemens Turbine controls, ABB composer experience, visual basic programming.
Understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and electrical schematic diagrams.
Knowledge of distributed control systems (ABB-Harmony, Emerson Process Ovation, Honeywell, Foxboro, etc.) including boiler tuning principles, process loop tuning, burner management controls and instrumentation specification, installation, calibration and commissioning
Working knowledge of plant control systems, communications, arc flash hazard, CEMS, testing and variable frequency drives.
Strong computer skills. Experience with MS Office Suite, AutoCAD, CMMS (EAM) or similar, PI, and PeopleSoft.
Good communication skills, both oral and written.
Ability to read and interpret schematic drawings
