Summary:
Responsible for assisting physician(s) and physician extender(s), as applicable, with clinical patient medical care duties, including rooming patients, updating prescription renewals, and documenting patient data in the electronic medical record. Reviews and triages test results, and communicates test results to patients.

Performs both administrative and clinical duties as assign by physician and supervisor. Displays maturity, flexibility, and effective organization and communication skills in dealing with other people. Works cooperatively with other departments and medical facilities. Promotes teamwork within the department. Performs as part of a health care team to provide high quality medical services.

Principle Accountabilities: % Of Time Spent
1. Rooms patients. 10%

2. Updates patient prescriptions renewals. 10%

3. Measures and records vital signs. 10%

4. Records chief complaint, medications, allergies, and patient history. 10%

5. Reviews and triages test results, and forwards to RN and physician. 10%

6. Communicates test results to patients per RN instructions and educates patients about their results. 10%

7. Obtains outside medical records and tests
required for patient visit and subsequent care. 10%

8. Prepares patients for examinations. 10%

9. Assists physicians and physician extenders with patient exams and other assigned tasks. 10%

10. Stocks, cleans, and maintains sufficient supplies and equipment. 5%

11. Disposes of biohazard and waste according to OSHA standards. 5%

12. Performs other work duties as assigned. 10%

Required Experience:
Graduate of MA program and/or greater than one year of medical assisting experience.

Basic computer skills required.

Good verbal and documentation skills required.

The assessment, care and treatment provided by the medical assistant will be consistent with the specific age related needs of the patient. The medical assistant is competent to care for patient age groups consistent with the specialties of the physician(s) in the practice.

Required Education:
High school diploma required.

Working Conditions:

Employee is required to sit and walk frequently. Employee must lift/carry a light (1-20 lbs.) load frequently, a medium (21-50 lbs.) and/or heavy (50 lbs. +) load occasionally. Employee may be required to lift over 100 lbs. with assistance. Employee is occasionally required to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, climb, lift waist to overhead. Employee is occasionally required to reach forward and reach overhead. Employee may be required to do simple grasping and pushing/pulling.

(Occasionally: 1-33%, Frequently: 34-66%, Continuously: 67-100%)

The most significant of duties are included but this does not exclude occasional work assignments not mentioned or developmental duties.
