Summary: Responsible for performing clerical and reception duties, and organization and management of patient files. Displays maturity, flexibility, and effective organization and communication skills in dealing with other people. Works cooperatively with other departments and promotes teamwork within the department. Answers phones, schedules patient appointments, handles pre-certifications and referrals. Maintains a pleasant, efficient, and well-organized working environment.

Principle Accountabilities: % Of Time Spent
1. Maintains office operations by completing patient check-in and check-out procedures. Distributes required forms to patients, and adds documents to patient records. Collects copays and balances due at time of check-in/check-out. Balances daily copay log. 30%
2. Schedules tests and procedures. Obtains referrals and pre-certs. 25%
3.Answers phones, directs calls, takes messages, and schedules patient appointments. Handles appointment reminders calls. Processes incoming and outgoing faxes. 25%
4. Prepares patient forms. 10%
5.Performs other work duties as assigned. 10%
Experience in a medical office or hospital department, or graduate of a medical administrative training program preferred.
Basic computer skills required. Good verbal and documentation skills required.
The assessment, care and treatment provided by the receptionist will be consistent with the specific age related needs of the patient. The receptionist is competent to care for patient age groups consistent with the specialties of the physician(s) in the practice.
High school diploma required, with some college preferred.
Employee is required to sit and walk frequently. Employee must lift/carry a light (1-20 lbs.) load frequently, a medium (21-50 lbs.) and/or heavy (50 lbs. +) load occasionally. Employee may be required to lift over 100 lbs. with assistance. Employee is occasionally required to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, climb, lift waist to overhead. Employee is occasionally required to reach forward and reach overhead. Employee may be required to do simple grasping and pushing/pulling.
