The primary purpose of this job is to oversee the daily functions of the Urgent Care Center in Hillsborough, NJ, including appointment scheduling, office reception, telephone triage and facilitating patient flow. This role will be working collaboratively with Somerset Medical Center Practice Management Department to assist with the financial management to include daily reconciliations of receipts and payment processing. Will also perform medical assistant duties.
Read, be familiar with, participate in periodic education/training regarding, and comply with, SMC's Corporate Compliance Program, Code of Conduct, and other corporate compliance policies (as may be amended from time to time).
This position requires access to Protected Health Information (PHI). The information accessed is limited to the minimum necessary PHI required to perform the employee's job (i.e. for claim processing, patient admissions, etc.) PHI is accessed through various computer applications, direct contact with the patient or family members and/or contact with hospital departments such as Helath Information Services, Case Management, and/or hospital departments with whom interaction is necessary.
The employee complies with HIPAA requirements by protecting the confidentiality of Protected Health Information, accessing only that information that is required to perform his/her job, and by discussing PHI only with others within SMC who have a legitimate business reason to access the information.
Urgent Care Center hours: Monday - Friday 8 AM - 8 PM, Saturday & Sunday 9 AM - 4 PM
Full Time position hours are 8 AM - 4 PM, but may require evening (4 PM - 8 PM) and weekend shifts.
High School diploma or equivalent. Prefer some college education. 3 years experience in a Clinical or Practice setting. CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) required.
Knowledge of computers, Word, Excel, Internet.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Practice management knowledge helpful.
Bi-lingual in Spanish, preferred.
