The Role in Brief:

  • Oversee our large and expanding group of medical technology, pharmaceutical, and IT firm members
  • Lead small-scale research studies and develop targeted deliverables for a range of sectors within the health care industry
  • Work closely with marketing and account management teams to form member and prospect outreach strategies
  • Oversee web-conferences on a range of topics, as well as lead onsite sessions as expertise grows
  • Partner with senior leaders to develop and execute on program strategy

Practice Managers’ specific job responsibilities vary according to the stage of the study cycle, but include those listed below.
  • Project management, including:
    • Develop a comprehensive research work plan
    • Provide intellectual direction to research team
    • Lead discussions among research team members regarding findings
    • Adhere to project deadlines
  • Program management, including:
    • Address questions from membership regarding research findings
    • Lead team in problem solving and consensus building
    • Demonstrate exceptional market knowledge and understanding of leading-edge issues
    • In conjunction with Executive Director, General Manager, and CFO, determine research agenda, plans, and budgets for programs
    • Conduct on-site presentations for membership
  • Product quality assurance, including:
    • Display mastery of intellectual terrain
    • Lead insight generation regarding research issues and essay development
    • Cultivate relationships with progressive health care “thought” leaders to assist in original research efforts
    • Ensure that tactics, speeches and essays associated with the study are completed in an efficient and effective manner
    • Develop constructs for presenting findings clearly and logically
    • Lead and partake in the majority of speech, essay and book writing related to the research study
  • Staff management, including:
    • Provide constructive formal and informal feedback to team members
    • Set team goals and define roles clearly through workload management and delegation
    • Include staff in decision-making process and empower staff to make decisions independently
    • Contribute to career pathing, work force planning and talent identification
Additionally, Practice Managers are expected to readily attach to feedback and manage teams positively towards aggressive goals.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience with at least one of the following:
    • Conducting long-term (at least 3 months in duration) research
    • Conducting primary and secondary research
    • Demonstrated interest in health care
    • Writing in-depth reports in an academic or professional setting
Ideal Qualifications:
  • MBA, MPH, or other advanced degree
  • Understanding of strategic management and operational issues facing hospitals, health systems, medical technology, pharmaceutical, and IT firms
  • 10+ years experience at top healthcare consulting firm or equivalent professional healthcare experience
  • Demonstrated project leadership and staff management skills
  • Proven abilities in thought leadership, and quantitative and analytical tools
  • Outstanding record of achievement with regard to quality of work, professionalism, work ethic, analysis, resourcefulness, and creativity
  • Experience with client/relationship management, particularly senior executives
  • Maturity, poise, discretion, positive attitude, entrepreneurial spirit, and grace under pressure
  • Unflagging attention to detail and commitment to managing around deadlines
