THIS IS A TEMPORARY 6-WEEK POSITION
Perform duties to plan and implement community or school based programs to provide substance abuse education, intervention, prevention and referral services to adult and youthful residents of designated community or students in designated school, providing services under parameters of designated program and within prescribed setting, working within the limits of standard or accepted practice.
1. Plan alcohol tobacco and other drug addiction education, prevention and social
skill development presentations and activities suited to the age, cultural and ethnic
background of targeted participants. Submit plans for review and authorization
and implement authorized activities and programs within assigned community or
2. Identify resources or other support services and refer residents, students or
families as appropriate and within the parameters of designated program to
resources such as medical evaluation and treatment, social services and
employment services. Assist residents and students to form appropriate
associations, liaisons or groups. Assist students with school work as required.
3. Complete required forms and make all necessary documentation to files relating
to all observations, activities and issues involved in dealings with residents or
students. Prepare and submit periodic and special reports relating to work
activities and project progress.
4. May be required to instruct and/or facilitate expressive arts to improve theatre in
order to assist youth in development of communication skills, self esteem and
decision making. Assist with program planning and development of curriculum
and work within program curriculum. Perform crisis interventions as required.
5. Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adheres to
Agency policies and procedures.

Skills / Requirements
Requires the equivalent of a full two year college level degree program with at least
eleven credit hours of study in the field of counseling and addictions in an accredited
college or university program.
FULLY FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires complete understanding of risk and resiliency factors relative to alcohol,
tobacco and other drug issues, addiction behavior and related social, psychological,
health issues and related counseling techniques and practices. Requires complete
knowledge of the organizations related programs, practices and policies as well as rules
of documentation and confidentiality. Requires the ability to read, analyze and interpret
written information including regulations and effectively communicate verbally and in
writing where information includes precise data and terminology, possibly of a
confidential nature. Further requires the equivalent of a full four year college level
degree program with at least twenty credit hours of study in the field of counseling and
addictions in an accredited college or university program.
Requires the equivalent of a CAPP certification involving specifically related work
experience of at least one year with at least one month of that experience performed
under the direction of an individual possessing a CAP designation or a Master's Degree
in a social or behavioral science from an accredited college or university, where the
supervised practical experience and training includes the areas of client screening, intake,
assessment, treatment planning, orientation and evaluation, individual, group and family
counseling, crisis intervention, referral, consultation, outreach, client follow up, reporting
and record keeping, written communications, case review and evaluation, client and
community education and case management. Requires the successful completion of
testing in the fields of pharmacology, signs and symptoms, rules and regulations,
modalities of treatment, theories and dynamics, treatment planning and coordination and
human behavior and development. Requires valid State of Florida Drivers' license and
State required insurance.
