Job Description: Poised for continued growth, KLA-Tencor has a strong history of outperforming the semiconductor capital equipment segment and looks to its global talent base to play a critical role in delivering cutting-edge solutions that help enable the production of today†s advanced semiconductor and LED devices.KLA-Tencor is seeking a Principal level algorithm scientist/researcher for its Wafer Inspection Group to collaborate closely with the office of CTO in researching, prototyping and developing solutions for a range of problems in the patterned wafer inspection space.Responsibilities: The job requires a proven innovative track record in the related fields of image processing, statistical signal processing, image analysis, machine learning techniques. The person should have a background in engineering/math/physics that allows them to be comfortable and conversant in a range of disciplines from optics, image formation, noise analysis, solving optimization problems (forward and inverse) with deep domain knowledge and practice in the semi-conductor defect detection, analysis and classification space. This position is open worldwide but with a preference that the candidate be able to work in close proximity to one of our worldwide engineering centers, preferably Milpitas, California.1) The successful engineer will have the ability to excel in an algorithms researcher, demonstrating ownership and providing the team, a high level of technical guidance during the development of critical image processing subsystems, from the concept design phase through product design, release and sustaining. The engineer must be self-motivated and self-directed, with ability to set priorities and achieve quality results.2) Activities will include working with cross functional global teams to define subsystem specifications, analyze data, model solutions, design and implement chosen solution, and test implementation against subsystem specifications.3) Maintain close interaction with optics, system and application engineers and scientists and software engineers during product development.4) Lead rapid prototyping and characterization in additional to standard product development to invent new ideas and improve existing concepts.5) Diagnose and solve complex, ambiguous, system problems across algorithms, software, and optics using apply the 7-Step problem solving technique or other methods as appropriate.
