Our Needs

We are looking for individuals to join and shape the fast growing technology consulting practice within the Management Consulting Group (MCG). The practice helps Fortune 500 marketing and technology leaders craft their customer marketing technology vision. Our focus on enabling capability assessments and recommendation across digital customer marketing technology, core database marketing infrastructure, and data integration combined with Merkle’s technology, analytics, and agency heritage gives us a unique value proposition to deliver on our recommendations.

As such, the consultant will help our clients understand:
Where they are today with respect to their enabling capabilities across the entire marketing technology ecosystem (online, offline, multi-channel, multi-media)

How their current state capabilities align to best practices, competitors, and their business needs

What technology and solution options will enable them to achieve their business goals, while crafting the vision of their future state from an enabling capability perspective

How to implement the solution over time, detailing business benefits and value, while improving marketing performance

We are looking to grow our technology consulting practice and are seeking an experienced consultant who can:

Drive a compelling marketing technology point of view related to our services, while helping clients better understand ways to enable and leverage customer and marketing data to improve business performance

Lead consulting projects that leverage core Merkle capabilities in technology, data, analytics and digital enablement services

Craft the vision for the clients’ future state marketing technology ecosystem and provide guidance on investments, deployment options, and business impact

Build relationships and manage client expectations by facilitating and driving client meetings and discussions, defining project objectives and approach, managing day to day delivery efforts

Manage Merkle’s commercial interests in the execution of a consulting engagement including project definition, scoping, management, and delivery

Lead and support business development activities including identification, proposal development, and other pursuit activities

Develop client relationship with senior level executives

Partner with other Merkle constituents in management consulting, digital agency, quantitative analytics, and technology deployment to ensure recommendations are in line with best practices and thought leadership

Participate in practice building activities (e.g. conference participation, thought leadership development, market offering development, recruiting, asset development) and author case studies / white papers for internal and market consumption

Required Skills


Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university; Masters degree preferred. Course focus on engineering, computer science, marketing, or mathematics preferred.

Between 10 and 15 years experience in CRM, digital (search, display, mobile, web, social) marketing, or database marketing as deep subject matter exert in technologies, tools, and overall solution integration for key customer interaction channels such as web, call center, retail, and mobile for example.

Excellent structured communication skills with the ability to frame complex CRM and technical concepts in a way that facilitates discussion and deeper levels of understanding at our clients. Ability to bridge marketing and technology personnel.

Deep knowledge and experience in Customer Relationship Marketing - leveraging strategy, data, analytics, and technology

Ability to engage at C-level within client organization and to influence decisions

Experience across multiple industries is a plus, with specific experience in Insurance, Wealth Management, Travel and Entertainment, Retail, B2B/High Tech, and Financial Services strongly desired

Experience working in a top tier consulting firm (Bain, McKinsey, BCG, Accenture, IBM, etc.) and/or CRM / Marketing Service Provider (MSP) agency a plus

Strong skills in: engagement and project management, customer and marketing data integration, digital data and technology deployment, and database marketing

Experience in decision management systems, marketing automation, campaign management, analytics, and reporting tools a plus

Strong MS PowerPoint skills and ability to present to technical, business, and marketing audiences

Ability to work in matrix environment and to serve as individual and team contributor, leading projects and initiatives

A self-starting orientation within a fast-paced environment with an intense desire/drive to “make things happen”

Preferred position location in core office locations ( NY, Boston, Baltimore, Denver) but must have the ability to travel about 50%
