To complete development activities required to meet business requirements. Development activities should be completed within expected delivery dates and should adhere to all Invesco development standards. The ability to communicate with both business users and IT professionals is a must.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
Complete all tasks related to technical analysis, building and unit testing, quality assurance, system test and implementation in accordance with the IT development life cycle.
Analyze requirements, design, build and test system components or amendments.
Always conform to documentation, coding and quality standards as defined.
Review, discuss and work within agreed timescales and feedback to project managers any variances arising as tasks are performed.
Understand client business and make recommendations and technology suggestions to solve problems and improve efficiency.
Understand architecture of applications in order to effectively troubleshoot problems and develop more efficient production processes.
Be prepared to carry out business analysis tasks to ensure that the development/change meets user requirements and expectations.
Prepare for and support user acceptance testing.
Perform quality assurance tests on the work of other developers.
Prepare all necessary documentation and processes to enable ongoing support of the systems.
Communicate with internal and external customers, supervisors and management using clear, user-friendly terminology (emails, phone, meetings).
Assist project and line managers in producing estimates for the development phase of projects and enhancements.
Provide On Call support for systems based on agreed coverage timeframe.
WORK EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE:
Minimum of 8 years of proven systems development experience using structured methods
Formal training in systems analysis and computer programming
Understanding of relational database design and development life cycle principles
Solid experience of working in project teams
Desire to stay abreast of new development tools and methods
A plus if experienced with ITIL, Agile or Lean IT principles

Specific Technical Skills Required:
Microsoft Developer (primary skill set for team member)
8+ Years experience with Microsoft .NET development, using frameworks 2.0/3.5/4.0 or higher. Prefer C# programming language experience over VB.NET, but not mandatory.
Strong background in ASP.NET
Experience with Object Oriented Design
8+ Years experience with SQL Server; table design, query design & optimization, stored procedures, etc.
Experience in the following considered a plus
WCF, ASMX web services
Object Relational Mapping (ORM) libraries: nHibernate, Entity Framework
WPF, MVVM UI patterns
Linq, Generics, Lambda expressions
Unit Testing in Visual Studio, Test Driven Development (TDD)
IIS Server configuration for hosting of web apps and services
SharePoint 2007/2010 (web parts, SharePoint web services, site design and configuration)
Team Foundation Server (TFS) – experience with using TFS for code repository, automated builds and task/defect tracking a plus.
ETL Developer (secondary skill set)
Primary ETL environment is Informatica.
Experience building and automating workflows with Informatica is strongly desired.
Experience with PowerCenter 9.0 is also desired.
Familiarity with Informatica best practices
Experience with working with flat files (csv, xml formats) also desired
Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Perl, also considered a plus
Experience with other database platforms (Oracle) also a plus.
Additional Skills desired
Experience with Java development
Java IDE - NetBeans 6 or later.
Experience developing Java web applications hosted on Apache Tomcat server
Experience with AutoSys for job scheduling/automation purposes
