LARGE company with several plant sites, (This one in Baton Rouge, LA), needs an experienced Process/Project Engineer. Ideal candidate will be familiar with PVC, VCM, EDC, and Chlorine............. (Other chemical experience will work but these are the "ideal" products). Must have PROJECT MANAGEMENT experience.
This position has full technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating assignments. Plans and develops engineering projects concerned with unique or controversial problems which have an important effect on major organizational programs. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation and development of novel concepts and approaches. Maintains liason with individuals and units within or outside the organization with responsibility for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to the field. Work a this level requires extensive progressive experience.
Will promote and support company Continuous Improvement Process, CIP.
Prepare monthly and other reports required to keep management informed on progress of projects, improvementss made and other items and necessary.
Use Statistical Process Control in the CIP effort.
Maintain working knowledge of the plant operations and technology in order to identify improvement opportunities.
Maintain files and documentation for plant process, eqipment and technology.
Maintains knowledge of multiple processes or technologies.
Mentors younger engineers.
Assists in troubleshooting and solves problems of complex processes and technologies.
Develops basic data, including P&ID's, heat and material balances, and complex cntrol strategies for large projects.
Uses computer modelling techniques and software to model processes.
PROJECT Engineering is a major part of this job. Must have the ability/experience to "run" large capital projects as well as typical process troubleshooting/debottlenecking............................
REQUIRED: BS Chemical or Mechanical Engineering Minimum of 3 years experience as a process or Project engineer in a Chemical Manufacturing environment. MUST want to work in the Baton Rouge, LA area.
