The Procurement Manager will have suitable qualifications proven industrial experience with the procurement of large material and subcontract orders in excess of $2M. Wind farm projects, Power, Utility, Energy background is desired. The ideal candidate will be familiar with US and Canadian construction practices and US/Canadian law with English as a primary language, Spanish and/or French as a secondary language desired.
  • Successful candidate will both be able to develop a strong long lasting relationship with key suppliers and also have a thorough understanding of contracts to ensure that they are not misleading and contradictory with main contract and exhibits and that they tie subcontractors and suppliers into terms that are reasonable.
  • They will also have a good business and commercial awareness so they are able to tie subcontractors and supplier in to reasonable terms including price, schedule, scope and specifications.
  • They will also ensure that the labor, plant and materials that are procured are safe and will meet RES's Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements.
  • Responsibilities:

  • Procurement of construction materials and writing of subcontracts which includes the coordination of the Corporate Procurement Department, Engineering, and Document Control with respect to obtaining appropriate documents / specifications and drawings.
  • Develops complex buying strategies, purchases, and arranges timely deliveries of supplies and materials; expedites as needed and serves as liaison between suppliers and projects.
  • Responsible for manufacturing facility/ quality assurance audits. As part of the RES QMS / ISO certification program, the Procurement Manager will be expected to travel to manufacturing facilities to conduct quality audits periodically. The Procurement Manager will (typically) be accompanied by a RES Engineer who will be conducting the technical audit.
  • Responsible for expediting: Must be able to develop strong professional supplier relationships in order to insure timely material deliveries to projects.
  • Responsible for customs clearing: Develop (some already established) relationships with Customs clearing agents for materials being shipped to foreign countries.
  • Planning, coordinating and actively participating in meetings with potential suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Responsible for bid evaluations: Prepares excel spreadsheet bid evaluations to be shared with engineering, project management and Senior Procurement Manager before final awards.
  • Responsible for construction material Inventory: Maintains logs and material specification sheets for inventoried construction material. Responsible for transportation arrangements of the same from project to project.
  • Maintain project status reports, update delivery schedules, inform management of delivery conflicts.
  • Responsible for entering Purchase Order requisitions and issuance of the Purchase Orders with applicable documentation upon approval.
  • Introduce new ideas to the procurement process in order to stay on top of its process.
  • Participate in weekly status updates with the Procurement Department and as well as weekly progress meetings with assigned projects.
  • Requirements:

  • Manages purchasing activities in US and Canada.
  • Receives orders / requests for materials from the field and enters and processes them.
  • Analyzes changes or new issues in materials and supplies to find ways to reduce costs and improve quality.
  • Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Experience with orders and contracts in excess of $2,000,000.
  • Needs expertise and the necessary skills to interface with the projects and will be instrumental in delivering on time cost effective projects.
  • Good communication and self motivation skills/minimal supervision required.
  • Knowledge of General Construction and terminology required.
  • Education:

    BS Business or Engineering degree in construction related areas such as Civil, Structural, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
